Bergamot & Orange Scent

WHAT EXACTLY IS BERGAMOT?

Bergamot essential oil is one of the most widely-used ingredients in modern perfumery.

The tree that bears the bergamot orange originated in Southeast Asia, but today, it's mainly grown in the Calabria region of Southern Italy. More than 80 percent of all the world's bergamot oranges are found here, but the fruit is also cultivated in the South of France and on the Ivory Coast.

It’s full name is the bergamot orange, or citrus bergamia, but in reality it’s more of a hybrid between lemon and bitter orange.

The fruit itself is too bitter and acidic to be consumed directly, but that’s not what it’s grown for. Rather, it’s the essential oil contained in the peel that is highly sought after for its incredible fragrance.

WHAT DOES BERGAMOT SMELL LIKE?

Bergamot is probably best known for being the key ingredient of Earl Grey tea, which is made from black tea infused with the essential oil from bergamot rinds. Bergamot oil is responsible for giving Earl Grey its unique aroma and flavor.

To start, bergamot is a citrus note — one of the most popular ones in perfumes and colognes, in fact — which are described as zesty, refreshing, sparkling, and crisp.

ORANGE OIL

Orange Essential Oil smells citrusy and sweet. Its aroma is similar to that of orange peels, but it typically smells sweeter and is more concentrated. Orange essential oil is extracted from the rind of the sweet orange Citrus sinensis. This is done by a method called cold pressing, which uses pressure to squeeze the oils from the rind. Sometimes, the leaves and flowers from the orange plant can be used as well.

Considered a top note in regards to fragrance blending, orange blends well with warm scents such as bergamot, cedarwood, juniper, clove, frankincense, lavender, sandalwood, and other citrus oils.

WHAT EXACTLY IS SANDALWOOD?

Sandalwood oil has a warm, woody odor and is commonly used as a fragrance in incense, cosmetics, perfumes, and soaps.

Sandalwood essential oil comes from the wood and roots of Santalum album, or the East Indian sandalwood tree. This is one of the most valuable trees in the world. Its products are used across the globe.

WHAT EXACTLY IS LIME?

Lime Essential Oil is a sweet and aromatic essence obtained by cold-pressed and distilled method of extraction from select fruit peel or rind.

The scent of the Lime Essential Oil gives a fresh, energizing feeling due to its sharp, sweet and fruity fragrance.

Lime Oil has a very refreshing scent.

A top note of lime makes for the brightest and most energising of first encounters, in a fragrance – lighter and sweeter than a lemon, but at the same time more intense.
